HeadSense (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the HeadSense iOS app.
1Information We Collect
Health Data
HeadSense collects headache-related data that you voluntarily enter, including:
- Headache intensity ratings (1-5 scale)
- Pain locations (e.g., frontal, temporal, occipital)
- Duration of headache episodes
- Notes and observations you add to entries
- Known triggers you identify during onboarding
- Headache frequency patterns
Location Data (Optional)
If you grant location permission, HeadSense may collect approximate location data to help identify environmental patterns (such as weather or altitude) that may correlate with your headaches. Location data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Subscription & Purchase Data
Subscription transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. We only receive a transaction receipt to verify your subscription status.
2How Your Data Is Stored
All health data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Your data is protected by iOS device encryption and the app’s data protection settings (FileProtectionType.complete). We do not operate servers that store your personal health data.
Widget Data Sharing
If you use HeadSense widgets, your headache data is shared between the main app and the widget extension via a secure App Group container on your device. This data never leaves your device.
Trial Tracking
To manage free trial eligibility, we store a trial start date in your device’s Keychain. This data is device-specific, tamper-resistant, and cannot be accessed by other apps.
3AI Data Processing
HeadSense offers AI-powered trend analysis as a premium feature. When you generate an AI report or use conversational AI:
- Your headache data (entries, intensity, locations, and notes) is sent to a third-party AI service for processing
- Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- We send only the minimum data necessary to generate your report
- AI-generated reports are cached locally on your device
- The AI service does not retain your data after processing your request
AI insights are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute medical advice.
4Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or contact information
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties
- We do not create advertising profiles based on your health data
5Data Export
Premium subscribers can export their data in CSV or PDF format for sharing with healthcare providers. Exported files are created with FileProtectionType.complete and stored temporarily. You control when and with whom you share exported data.
6Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Individual entries: Swipe to delete any headache entry from the dashboard
- All data: Use "Delete All Data" in Settings > Privacy
- Account deletion: Use "Delete Account" in Settings to remove all data including trial information
- Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all locally stored data
7Children’s Privacy
HeadSense is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or on this page. Continued use of HeadSense after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
